What To Expect
Material Flow Engineering team is seeking a motivated and accomplished Senior manufacturing engineer who will lead the design and implementation of automated material handling system for new and existing factories and programs at Tesla. This position will be based in Gigafactory Texas near Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile, and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today.

Material Flow Engineering team is seeking a motivated and accomplished Senior manufacturing engineer who will lead the design and implementation of automated material handling system for new and existing factories and programs at Tesla. This position will be based in Gigafactory Texas near Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding and fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a strong, agile, and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today.
What You’ll Do
- Develop analytical models to establish design criteria and overall system performance criteria
- Concept development, detailed engineering design, and collaboration with system build and integration
- Drive material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems
- Investigate and research advanced technologies to optimize material handling equipment and systems
- Design automated material handling solutions to establish new and improved existing material flows throughout the facilities. The design includes material arrival at docks, delivery to line-side locations, material transport between internal manufacturing lines, buffer/storage systems, robotic material handling solutions.
- Develop RFQs, technical equipment specifications, procedures, and proper documentation
- A solid engineering background with hands-on design and development experience
- BS in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
- High mechanical aptitude
- Must understand the integration of equipment design into existing or new systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA or similar modeling software
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- A passion to work on mechanical automation equipment, robots, design of electromechanical/pneumatic systems, motion controls and navigation & vision systems
- 10 years+ of experience in material handling automation: AS/RS, electric monorail system, conveyance, mobile robotics (AGVs or AMRs), and robotic material handling

- Ability to apply principles of logical and innovative thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
