Description

Newell Brands is searching for a highly motivated Senior Firmware Engineer. The ideal candidate will be able to work across multiple functions and collaborate with other divisions. This person needs to balance work on multiple projects and manage to deadlines. They must have expertise in the area of firmware coding for microcontrollers.

General Responsibilities

• Bring up reference boards or prototype hardware and troubleshoot early integration issues
• Maintain code in repository and participate in peer code reviews
• Ongoing investigation of the latest component technology to meet the goals of continuous quality and cost improvements.
• Perform bench level testing with basic electrical lab bench equipment
• Develop test programs, testing, technical documentation, and correspondence with internal and external sources.
• Development of firmware with C/C++, facilitate builds with source code control tools
• Report on project status in team meetings
• Work with outside agencies to comply with industry standards
• Carry out responsibilities for multiple software development projects
• Plan and estimate development activities on an individual level and coordinate efforts with other teams
• Cross collaborate with engineering teams, test teams, customer support teams, and factory.
• Interface with customers and other design engineers required throughout the product development cycle and follow on product support.

Qualifications - External

• Wireless experience with Bluetooth, WiFi, Zigbee, proprietary RF
• A working knowledge of embedded hardware (digital, analog, RF) and previous experience of bare metal applications
• Experience with SoCs, integrating hardware and software applications
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub, software configuration management and tracking tools
• Strong knowledge of bus protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART and SDIO
• 2-5 years of work experience developing embedded firmware
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline
