Job Description

The Sr. Director, Internal Communications will lead the development and execution of the internal communications strategy for the Company. This person will be a key member of the communications leadership team and work closely with senior management to ensure all communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the Company’s goals, Purpose and Values.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications program that appropriately conveys key messages on company strategy, drives employee engagement and strengthens the company’s culture
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure all internal communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the company’s goals, Purpose and Values
  • Coordinate the development of internal company communications to inform, educate and engage employees via multiple channels, including but not limited to Town Halls, newsletters, Intranet, company emails, videos, presentations and other communications, as needed
  • Maintain and expand the company’s internal communications hub (intranet), ensuring all content is current, relevant and aligned with the company’s culture, Purpose and Value
  • Work with company’s PR agency to develop the social media strategy and execute across multiple social channels and monitor all channels
  • Oversee the development of all social media posts across all channels for the company, CEO and President
  • Identify opportunities to promote employee engagement and help create a positive company culture
  • Develop initiatives in conjunction with other departments to increase and enhance employee engagement activities that result in greater awareness of corporate priorities
  • Develop and maintain a content calendar to ensure internal communications are timely and relevant
  • Assist with crisis communications, ensuring all employees are informed on a timely basis
  • Manage an internal communications Manager, providing guidance and feedback to ensure all internal communications are clear, consistent and aligned with the company’s goals, Purpose and Values
  • Review and analyze data to measure the effectiveness, impact and engagement of internal communications, and make recommendations for improvement based on feedback and data analysis

Skills and Qualifications Required

  • Excellent verbal, writing, editing and interpersonal skills – purposefully creative storytelling
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once while demonstrating strong composure and flexibility under tight deadlines
  • Strong content creation and delivery skills, including company newsletters, communications hub (intranet), videos and presentations
  • Team player with ability to build strong relationships internally across functional areas and externally with vendors, suppliers and other constituents
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, prioritize deadlines and effectively work through challenges in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and ability to work independently
  • Handle all matters with a high level of discretion and confidentiality
  • Ability to perform other related duties, as required
  • Ability to travel occasionally, as required

Technical Skills Required

  • In-depth knowledge of general business operations and excellent communications skills
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of clinical vocabulary is preferred

Minimum Education and Experience

  • BA or BS required, preferable with a degree or emphasis in Communications or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of communications experience; agency experience is a plus
