Job Description

Sr Chemical Process Engineer
Sr Chemical Process Engineer for Honeywell International, Inc. (Metropolis, IL).
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide daily production support as needed to include Tracking daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE)
  • Troubleshooting assistance
  • Participating in Operations and Projects teams to identify and execute solutions that improve daily production, KPI, and OEE metrics.
  • Identify and implement cost savings initiatives and other process improvements.
  • Will handle the Management of Change requirements for assigned areas to include site training, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, documentation management, and punch-list completion.
  • Participate in process hazard assessments, root cause analysis, incident investigations, and development of SOPs.
  • Support execution of capital projects through the stage gate process to include scope development, engineering design, sizing, specifying, and approving new equipment, risk assessments, design reviews, field construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Collaborate with or lead cross-functional teams (operations, engineering, nuclear safety, maintenance) in order to improve daily performance, address process and equipment related issues, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain engineering documents and drawings (Process Instrumentation Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams and Material & Energy Balances, Block Flow Diagrams, electrical drawings, operational and technical procedures, hydraulic models, etc.).
  • Develop and modify process controls (Function Block Diagrams, Sequential Control Modules) on Honeywell Experion DCS platform.
  • Mentor junior engineering staff.

YOU MUST HAVE:


Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Chemical Engineering or related field and four (4) years of experience.

Must possess two (2) years of experience in the following: Ability to read and modify chemical process, mechanical, electrical and CSA drawings (PIDs, PFDs, electrical one-line diagrams, instrument loop sheets, general arrangement drawings, piping plans, plot plans, and vendor fabrication drawings);

Demonstrated capabilities in troubleshooting and root cause analysis; Familiarity with process Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and life critical safety tools, including Lock-out/Tag-out, Line Break, and Hot Work permits and procedures; engineering experience in an OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated industrial chemical manufacturing facility; solids handling; Aptitude in and application of the fundamentals of statics, hydraulics and fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, binary distillation, fluidization, and electrical circuits analysis; Basic proficiency using Microsoft enterprise software, SAP, and process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Hysis, Pipe-Flo).

Telecommuting permitted up to two (2) times per week.
