Job Description
Overview:
QSC seeks an experienced and self-motivated Senior Buyer. The SB will select suppliers and obtain all assigned materials and services for QSC. The SB is responsible for selecting suppliers and purchasing the required quantity of materials and/or services as directed by the Material Requirement Plan, Global Master Planning Team or New Product Development Projects. This must be accomplished at the best total cost possible within the constraints of the required delivery date and quality standards established by QSC. Optimization of delivery, quality and price are paramount.

Base Salary Range: $73,000-106,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans, generous time off and profit sharing
Responsibilities:
Each day the Senior Buyer will be expected to:
  • Negotiate global pricing and understand how their commodities are used both for QSC manufacturing as well as QSC supply partners.
  • Understand how price changes on individual components affect the company at the net profit level. Price increases that have a significant effect on net profits will be tracked and all avenues will be taken to reduce the negative effect.
  • Understand and track market conditions that affect cost. Work to mitigate any cost increases and seek cost reductions when appropriate based on market conditions for assigned commodities.
  • Review, evaluate and provide an analysis on all supplier quotations to make the most appropriate decision.
  • Understand the cost drivers behind the components and communicate them to the designers either directly or through the New Product Development Buyer/Planner (NPDBP) for assigned commodities.
  • Interface between supplier and QSC: be the lead on preventing, identifying, and solving any problems that would affect cost, quality, or schedule.
  • Manage all purchase orders in order to provide assurance of compatibility with all applicable purchasing policies and practices including notifying suppliers in writing of any breaches or closures.
  • Support proper inventory levels by ensuring proper scheduling of all production materials. Work with suppliers to coordinate schedules and prevent stock-outs, shortages and over supply
  • Responsible for ensuring all suppliers have the proper revisions of documents.
  • Place purchase orders as required for assigned materials on behalf of QSC and follow-up with respective suppliers to ensure on time delivery.
  • Convey supplied monthly forecast requirements to suppliers for long term supplier visibility planning.
  • Evaluate new designs to determine best source of supply. Provide feedback as to ways to optimize cost and schedule.
  • Develop new sources of supply in order to sustain competitive supplier bidding.
  • Support internal customers by placing orders in an expedient fashion and following up to ensure timely delivery for persons in other departments as required.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Oracle 11i or R12 experience
  • Must be proficient in ERP systems
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years buyer experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience will be considered in lieu of degree
  • Experience will be considered in lieu of degree

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Commodities Experience is a huge plus (metals, electronics, etc)
  • Must be proficient MS Excel, and the MS Office suite
  • Materials Management skills and capabilities
