Job Description

Sr Business Analyst


General Description:

  • This position requires interacting with other people and the ability to train and encourage them in the use of new ways to do their work.
  • A successful candidate will help improve how we do business. Our Business Analyst works with internal departments to help make their jobs easier, gather requirements, and translate them for IS development. After development, they are responsible for testing and gaining approval for the solution, as well as employee training.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop information and process-related workflows, permissions, and rules that add value during project work
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions with multiple groups, document in detail, and assist in validating once design and development has completed
  • Requirements, business rules, and use case development and management.
  • Elicitation, analysis, validation, and documentation of business, organizational, and/or operational requirements.
  • Spend time with employees and partners/vendors with a keen eye toward their efficient use of Equiscript’s processes and systems, with emphasis on its SalesForce.com instance
  • Become the Subject Matter Expert for one or more departments and processes
  • Facilitate testing according to the testing model (onshore and offshore).
  • Manage scope, change controls
  • Facilitation of communication between organizational units including finance, Ops, Sales & Marketing, legal, IT professionals, and executives.
  • Assist with training on process and system improvements
  • Identifying problems affecting the business solutions and communicating that to the project manager
  • Provide technical direction and guidance for all product development
  • Define business requirements that clearly meet business objectives
  • Propose improvements to processes and systems and prepare project requirement specs for use by developers


Professional Qualities:

  • Behavioral Characteristics - Support the development of effective working relationships, think ethically, be trustworthy, and be organized
  • Strong PC skills (MS Excel, SQL, Gmail, Google Apps, web-based programs, Visio, and Salesforce.com experience strongly preferred
  • Flexible, adaptable personality, open to change
  • Business Knowledge - Understand the business customers and the work that is performed within that area
  • Communication/Interaction - Ability to understand the audience and the appropriate formats for communication and keep everyone informed that is involved with the project. Facilitate the agreement of the desired future state among stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical Thinking and Problem Solution - Assess the situation, identify business problems, and suggest potential solutions to the problem
  • Software Applications - Awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of different applications in order to maximize the quality of requirements.
  • Detail-minded with excellent critical thinking ability
  • Organized
  • Conscientious and willing to take ownership of the accuracy of data
  • Solid and practical understanding of technology, web-based applications, and relational databases


Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience in Computer Science, Business, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field
  • Solid and practical understanding of technology, web-based applications, and relational databases
  • Some experience with SalesForce.com
  • Minimum 3 years prior experience gathering business requirements and doing Business Analyst work
  • Business Analyst certification and experience with project planning tools
  • Business Analyst certification may be substituted for 1 year of BA experience


Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, occasional stooping, and reaching; May require lifting up to 25 pounds; requires normal range of vision and hearing with or without accommodations.
