Job Overview
Under the direction of the Head of Sports Performance, the Sports Performance Coach provides evaluation, instruction, accountability, and implementation of speed development, cardiovascular conditioning, or injury prevention as it pertains to their sport in the arena of play specific to the sport of soccer. Provides weight room assistance, program implementation, speed enhancement, and conditioning components for student-athletes. Oversee and coordinate the sport science/technology initiative for all Georgetown Athletics. Develop and oversee all monitoring systems used by Georgetown teams. Assist sports performance coaches in utilizing monitoring systems and developing strategies for their respective teams. Must stay current on sports science research and trends that could benefit Georgetown athletics (monitoring strategies, technologies, testing protocols, recovery, etc.). Collaborate with sports medicine to develop and maintain a standardized testing protocol for performance and return to play purposes. Assist with daily women's soccer practice/game operations, such as warm-ups, cool downs, and recovery sessions. Travel with the team required. This position will work with other teams in addition to women’s soccer, as assigned. Manage and implement the athlete monitoring system for women's soccer. This includes, but is not limited to the collection and analysis of GPS and Wellness data, the generation of daily GPS/Wellness reports, and collaboration with the coaching staff on the general planning based on that monitoring.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation The Sports Performance Coach reports directly to the Head of Sports Performance. The Head of Sports Performance reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Health and Wellness. This position will also interact daily with soccer coaches. This position has been designated as On-Campus.

  • Willingness and availability to work on weekends and evenings
Requirements and Qualifications
  • 2 years of strength and conditioning experience, preferably in the sport of soccer at NCAA Division I level
  • Technical Qualifications or Specialized Certification: National Strength & Conditioning Assoc. C.S.C.S (Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist) or S.C.C.C. (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified)
  • Additional Certifications: S.A.C. (Speed, Agility, & Conditioning), U.S.W.F (United States Weightlifting Federation) or N.A.S.M. (National Academy of Sports Medicine – Institutional Certification)
  • Experience with Olympic style movements, working with female athletes and mass groups of athletes
  • Bachelor’s degree - Master’s degree preferred
  • Ability to work confidently in a crisis or emergency situation and demonstrate knowledge of safety practices
• Knowledge of University and Department philosophies, policies, and regulations • Strong organizational skills and NCAA regulations
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
  • Strong interpersonal skills that demonstrate an ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Possess a valid driver’s license with good driving record and insurability • Proficiency in computer use and relevant Microsoft applications
  • Availability and willingness to work on weekends and evenings Sponsored Project Management (if applicable)
