Job Description

Contractor Role: Special Educator
Classification: Independent Contractor/Self-Employed , Part-Time, In-Person, Hourly Billable Rate
Hours: Variable
Location: Variable based on case(s)
Billable Rate: $110-$175/hour
Pay Frequency: Monthly
Point of Contact: Clinical Supervisor

Independent Contractor Summary

The Independent Contractor working as a Special Education Teacher will provide support to individuals and their families by coordinating and providing educational services based on Applied Behavior Analysis, functional assessment and analyses, behavior acquisition and reduction procedures, and adaptive life skills.

Contractor Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor treatment plans, including, but not limited to creating programs and stimuli as needed for treatment goals
  • Submit written and digital reports and invoices within established timelines
  • Providers should note that only direct time with the client is billable and treatment planning is conducted outside of scheduled times with the client
  • Provide parent training as approved by funder
  • Provide services consistent with the organization’s mission, vision, and values
  • Actively seek parent and/or client feedback regarding programming and therapy goals
  • Analyzes goal and behavior data
  • Complete assessments, including the VB-MAPP, AFLS, SKILLS, and FBAs
  • Voluntarily participate in opportunities for staff training and education at the discretion of the contractor
  • Collaborate with client’s related service providers, teachers, and school administration with respect

  • Write reports as led by assessment, including treatment plans, and behavior intervention plans

Contractor Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans for individuals with challenging behavior
  • Must successfully complete contractor trainings as required by law
  • Experience working with individuals with autism or related developmental disabilities
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality, and with minimal direction
  • New York state special education certification
  • Flexible availability and ability to respond quickly to phone calls, text messages, and emails
  • Knowledge and experience in developing and implementing skill acquisition treatment plans for individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of DTT programming and implementation
  • Master’s degree in Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related human services field
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skill, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations
  • Current, appropriate license or certification, prerequisite of title and level of services rendered
  • Formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies, training related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with client
