Job Overview
- Develops and maintains collaborations within and outside of AFRL.
- Supports a culture where intellectual Property (IP) is developed, documented, protected and encouraged.
- Scientific/engineering knowledge will be utilized to effectively assist in IP transfer, transition or commercialization.
- Prepares technical input for contractual documents, technical reports, and/or evaluates technical proposals.
- Inherent in the technical publication review process is a thorough screening for potential IP.
- Assists the Program Manager in performing research or other professional engineering and scientific work involving the design, development, commission, manufacture, operation, maintenance, and disposal of physical devices and systems and their equipment and/or components.
- Helps organize and manage workshops and technical exchange meetings and participates in them as required.
- Maintains a technical and programmatic cognizance of outside technological and research projects and programs; reports status to peers and senior technical leaders as required.
- Assists in developing software, performing analysis and uses systematic, disciplined, and quantifiable approaches to manage projects related to space vehicles.
- Manages research and development contracts.
- Applies orbital dynamics, mechanics, and other physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences to analyze and resolve problems concerned with production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy, especially spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control.
- Provides support to determining how best to accomplish engineering objectives, develops and evaluates alternatives, designs and conducts experiments, analyzes and interpret results, publishes papers and technical reports, delivers presentations of results, and monitors in-house activities.
- Must be able to obtain Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) Level II Practitioner in Engineering & Technical Management. The selectee will have 36-months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
- Working knowledge of orbital dynamics and spacecraft Guidance, Navigation, and Control
- Software development experience with Python and C++
- Ability to pass random drug testing, this is a drug testing designated position.

- Must possess a professional science or engineering (S&E) degree from an accredited academic institution in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering. Unofficial transcript must be attached to application in order to be considered.
- Active DoD Secret clearance
- Advanced degree (MS) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering, or 1-3 years of experience with spacecraft guidance, navigation & control
- Spacecraft software development experience
