Overview:
Summary/Objective
BlueHalo is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in electronics assemblies to provide end-to-end engineering support for low volume production contracts. The candidate would be expected to assist with the manufacturing design, analysis, integration, and test activities of electrical hardware and subsystems, through the engineering and development phase in preparation for full system production. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong creative and critical thinking skills; the desire to work with a top-notch group of people on manufacturing projects as well as contributing to technical documentation, writing and interacting with multiple cross-functional teams on a consistent basis. The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in a multi-disciplinary environment. The ideal candidate would be able to quickly adapt to various types of work, and would quickly learn new skills, analysis methods, etc. The candidate must be able to support technology development initiatives, along with the rigorous processes & procedures associated with building and testing production hardware.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Manufacturing Engineer job duties include:
  • Analyze production processes, schedules, methods, and other data and provide management with reports to facilitate process improvements.
  • Evaluate quality control processes and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Prepare and lead with cognizant teammates, physical and functional configuration audits.
  • Review engineering drawings and interface with all Engineering groups to make sure new product designs meet Design-For-Manufacturing guidelines. Participate in engineering design reviews.
  • Occasional Travel
  • Perform sustainment engineering tasks to incorporate redlines and update drawings as necessary.
  • Perform Root cause analysis and identify and monitor corrective actions to resolve production and product issues.
  • Create production procedures, routers, and work instructions to facilitate production execution in compliance with engineering drawings and data, quality requirements, and regulations.
  • Follow Manufacturing Engineering Processes and Procedures to complete sustainment engineering tasks. Identify and differentiate between manufacturing, design, and component issues, and coordinate resolution of the issues with the appropriate individual, group, or organization.
  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; and soliciting observations from operators and engineers.
  • Analyze and plan electrical build workflows, equipment placement, and space requirements for new products and to improve manufacturing efficiency for existing products.
  • Ability to review and create manufacturing drawings for circuit card assembly, cables, subassemblies.
  • Monitor and record production performance; labor, material cost, schedule, etc, to support management in monitoring current performance and estimating for future opportunities.
  • Perform data collection to facilitate the tracking of manufacturing related data including: Test Yields, Manufacturing fallout, through-put, etc.
  • Monitor production equipment and coordinate maintenance with calibration team and make sure that manufacturer's procedures and instructions are followed.
  • Monitor technician performance and provide training and guidance with Production Lead as needed to maintain certifications and performance standards.
  • Manage Disposition requests from manufacturing floor with quality team.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

This job operates in a professional production environment. This role routinely uses production and test equipment and standard office equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are nominally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of IPC and J-STD soldering standards and circuit card, harness, and system assembly
  • Experience with manufacturing information systems, such as MES, MRP, ERP, PLM
  • Detail oriented
  • Design for manufacturability
  • Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing, industrial, systems, mechanical, or electrical engineering or in a related field. Professional experience will be considered.
  • Implementing systems for continuous improvement
  • 7-10 years related experience in electronics and/or manufacturing with understanding of work order management and manufacturing performance tracking systems.
  • A U.S. Citizen
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools
  • Able to interpret technical documentation and specifications.
  • Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
Desired Experience
  • Knowledge of Conformal Coating Processes and Procedures
  • A U.S. Citizen able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance
  • Statistical analysis experience to support process improvements and problem solving.
  • Desired: Experience with implementing Lean Manufacturing objectives
