Job Summary And Mission


The position resides in Technology Sourcing Team within Indirect Sourcing Org, and will be responsible for Software, SaaS and Technology Services, with target spend portfolio responsibility of $100M+.


This position contributes to Starbucks success by effectively managing suppliers and internal networks to deliver best in class performance for the relative spend area. Consistently delivers measurable and strategic goals to enable a competitive advantage to bottom-line and top-line company growth, and corporate social responsibility leadership. Collaborates effectively internally and with suppliers. Develops and leads effective multi-year negotiation strategies to enable success. Leads cross functional sourcing teams. Manages technology spend depending upon market complexity.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


Shaping the Business


  • Project Management: Effectively manages multiple competing projects and deadlines. Independently solves problems and make decisions to ensure successful execution of the project. Provides oversight, guidance, and drives completion of project plans. Documents post-mortems when necessary.
  • Business Case Development: Obtains alignment for ideas by creating detailed and workable proposals, considering strategic, commercial, economic, financial, and organizational impacts.
  • Strategy: Develops, owns, and executes sourcing strategies that enable bottom-line and top-line company growth, through the incorporation of data-driven insights, stakeholder needs, and business objectives.
  • Strategies shall address corporate social responsibility as it pertains to supplier diversity, ethical sourcing, and sustainability, where applicable.


Drive Value


  • Value Stewardship: Consistently build a value pipeline and execute plans by leveraging relationships with stakeholders and suppliers to identify and drive value. Knowledge of category and supplier spend, as well as the key cost drivers of the product/service. Evaluate market trends and key cost drivers to identify, implement and track cost savings. Leverage the value analysis insights and incorporate them into strategies for implementation. Value is defined as cost savings, supplier diversity, ethical sourcing, innovation, and margin protection.
  • Supplier Enabled Innovation Management: Enables connection between supplier's capabilities and internal business needs.
  • Supplier Management & Collaboration
  • Management of core and routine suppliers. Cultivate partnerships with new and existing suppliers through the lens of Starbucks values, generating trust and transparency, in order to maximize mutual value and reduce risk. Professionally lead supplier meetings which demonstrate supplier growth and improvement and coach suppliers on understanding our business better.


Protect Supply and Reduce Risk


  • Effectively manage multiple sourcing projects and deadlines
  • Risk Management: Protects the organization by identifying, assessing, and mitigating supplier and supply chain risk. Take action to mitigate, reduce, and eliminate risk related to ethical sourcing, capacity, supplier financial, margin, and other identified risks. sourcing manager
  • Cross-Functional Projects:
  • Independently solve problems and make decisions for primary and strategic execution within the relevant portfolio of projects
  • Provide day to day oversight and perform a hands on execution role
  • Contracting: Working knowledge of legal terms and contracting best practices to own and partner on contracting, including preplanning, developing term sheet, and negotiating to maintain gold standard and avoiding exception-based contracting. Develop negotiation skills and style to reach a win-win deal. Works with suppliers and stakeholders to develop contracts in line with business and legal requirements and ensure both parties deliver on contractual obligations, including awareness of relevant deliverables, costs, risks, and other commitments.


Qualifications


Summary of Experience


  • 3+ years procurement, sourcing, contract management or other relevant experience, preferably in technology sourcing space.
  • Practical knowledge of software licensing models highly desirable.
  • Experience negotiating with top tier software publishers preferred.


Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Systems & tools: practical knowledge of Ariba S2P and P2P modules highly desirable; Intermediate to Master in MS Office Suite, (including Excel pivot tables, managing complex formulas + data); also prefer knowledgeable in BI Apps, Oracle EBS, Power BI, Tableau, or other like systems.
  • Influence: Ability to influence at an Director+ Level both internally and externally. Ability to lead and influence peer groups both internally and externally
  • Legal: Knowledge of critical procurement legal requirements and contracting best practices, software licensing/SaaS agreements
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Analytical: Advanced analytical skills
  • Communication: Exceptional communication both written and oral
  • Procurement: Excellent knowledge of global market analysis, sourcing category strategy, supplier relationship management “should-cost” models, and multi-year negotiation strategies, supplier continuous improvement programs/Lean Initiatives
  • Ethics: Knowledge of business ethics and Starbucks Ethical Sourcing Requirements
