Job Description
Solar Alternatives is seeking energetic and fast-learning candidates for a Solar Field Engineer position based out of the New Orleans Metro area. The Solar Field Engineer provides support for all new commercial and residential project installations, as well as post-install monitoring and service. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to continue developing their solar knowledge, or to begin a career in solar engineering with a top-tier team. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Performing Quality Control of new installations
  • Commissioning higher level commercial & industrial scale installations
  • Expected leadership and proficiency in the following:
  • Material procurement and planning when necessary
  • Configuration and troubleshooting of web-based system monitoring
  • Ability to provide new installation training and technical support for clients
  • Technical field support, troubleshooting and service visits
  • Assisting engineering team with project planning including: permitting assistance, net meter applications, design review, etc
  • On site support for project installation layouts including: solar panels, water heaters, battery energy storage systems, and electric vehicle chargers

Requirements
  • Engineering or science background
  • Construction or manual trades experience
  • Computer compentency, including networking, cloud-based software, and business software (Excel and Word)
  • Leadership and a positive attitude
  • Good understanding of electronics and electrical systems
  • Design software or CAD experience a plus
  • Professional spoken and written expression and demeanor
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
