Job Description
LEMOINE, a Great Place to Work®-Certified company, is looking for a Field Engineer located in New Orleans, LA to join our Building Construction Group. The primary role of the Field Engineer is to assist their team by taking the lead in establishing and maintaining horizontal and vertical control, laying out and/or verifying the layout of structural components, partitions, equipment, paving, exterior improvements, and beyond in completing projects through the implementation of LEMOINE's Foundations for Successful Execution: Safety, Quality, Schedule, Relationships, and Success. This position has no supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Field Engineer Manager and works day to day with the Project Superintendents.


Job Responsibilities


  • Utilizes field engineering and layout hardware, software, and technology to its greatest and proper capabilities to ensure the most precise and accurate work can be performed and accomplished.
  • Positively influence safety culture by good catch observations, conversations, and coaching.
  • Anticipate and coordinate project needs in order to create sufficient lead time so as to not disrupt or delay production.
  • Proactively identifies conflicts or issues within construction documents and progress to ensure there will be minimal mistakes made throughout the course of construction.
  • Maintain cost, schedule, and relationships through effective planning.


Required Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Degree in Construction Management, Survey Engineering, or similar from a college or university preferred.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of Jobsite safety, blueprints, and AutoCAD is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to foster relationships with all levels of the project team and craft workers.
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing surveying equipment such as Trimble or similar.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in laying out concrete foundations, paving, and vertical concrete is preferred.
  • Competencies include plan reading, computer skills, communication, organization, and initiative.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite of applications preferred.
  • Experience working in the field on commercial construction projects, preferably in a surveying role.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and pay close attention to detail.


Physical Demands


The physical and mental demands of this position must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds.


Most duties in this position are performed under periodically disagreeable working conditions including working outside at times in inclement weather, and exposure to water, dust, dirt, grease, paint fumes, chemicals, and equipment noise and vibration. Regular and predictable attendance is required. Work hours coincide with job site and/or office hours.
