Team Introduction
Edge Platform team develop and manage the infrastructure of Bytedance's CDN edge clusters around the globe. They utilize Kubernetes and cloud native technologies to manage the edge clusters, and build a platform-as-a-service layer to help developers manage application deployment and traffic on the edge. Example applications running on the edge platform include Bytedance CDN, live streaming, gaming, and so on.
We are looking for talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2023. Internships at Bytedance aim to offer students industry exposure and hands-on experience. Turn your ambitions into reality as your inspiration brings infinite opportunities at Bytedance.
This Internship Program runs for 12 weeks beginning in August/September 2023. Successful candidates must be able to commit to one of the following fall internship cycles below:
1. August 14, 2023 to November 3, 2023
2. September 5, 2023 to November 24, 2023
We will prioritize candidates who are able to commit to these start dates. Please state your availability clearly in your resume (Start date, End date).

Technical Assessment
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in Bytedance's technical online assessment in HackerRank.
Responsibilities:
This internship provides students the opportunity to join one of our engineering teams where you will have the opportunity to:

• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to build enterprise-level platform (PaaS) that serves both internal and external teams.
• Write the necessary unit test, integration test, and end-to-end test.
• Develop and Enhance microservices using Cloud Native technologies like Kubernetes, gRPC, REST, Nginx/Envoy, Postgres, Containers, etc.
• Work in a fast-paced environment and be responsible end-to-end to the production environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master's in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Fall 2023
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
• Experience in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, C/C++.
• Experience with one or more databases and messaging frameworks, such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Kubernetes-related Cloud Native development, such as Kubernetes API, Operator, Custom Resource Definition (CRD) development, or other related Open Source projects.
• Graduating December 2023 onwards with intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship.
• Experience with backend development and frameworks such as Gin, Iris, Django, Spring, etc.
• Familiarity with the whole web stack, including protocols and web server optimization techniques.
• Experience in using and contributing to Cloud Native projects, e.g. Prometheus , Istio/Linkerd, Envoy, KubeEdge, ArgoCD, OPA, Harbor, etc.
• Deep understanding of data structure design, networking, authentication and data security.
