About the Team

The Subsplash Engineering Team is responsible for all products that the company develops including the App Platform and Merchant Services. We are a team of designers, developers, and coordinators, creating polished experiences for our clients and end users. The Product Team is responsible for the entire user experience including: End-User Mobile Apps, the Subsplash Dashboard (our Content Management System), Subsplash Giving (Our Donation and Merchant Services Platform), the Web App, backend data feeds, analytics, and more. The Product Team supports our Clients by helping them maximize their revenue to fuel their mission and expand their reach.

About the Role

As a Software Development Engineer III, you will report to the Software Development Manager. This is a senior level role within our team, and with that comes a high degree of responsibility. You will work closely with designers, product managers, your manager, and other engineers to architect and build robust, scalable, and secure systems. As a senior level individual, you will be asked to mentor others while also working on your own commitments and deliverables. You will be expected to keep up to date with industry best practices and help implement them at Subsplash where they make sense.

You will work closely with your scrum team and help ensure the team's success through on time delivery of commitments. As a senior member on the scrum team, it will be expected of you to provide accurate estimates of work, and help your team meet the commitments to the scrum team.

As part of the Backend Development team you will be expected to give feedback on code reviews, and accept critical feedback on your own code. You'll be expected to write and review documentation, proposals, API docs, and code. From time to time you will be called upon to participate in interviews and provide constructive feedback to help the hiring process. You will be expected to work in both Go and NodeJS, and take on a wide range of technical challenges.. Senior level team members are expected to take security, scalability, and uptime of our software systems seriously. It's expected of you that you will take every precaution to ensure the software systems at Subsplash are performing at their best and without defects. After approximately 6 months on the job, you will also be expected to participate in our on-call rotation helping ensure our service uptime requirements are met. Specific on-call expectations for Software Development Engineers can be minimal depending on a number of factors.

Required Education and Experience

• Experience writing technical documentation and proposals
• Experience and proficiency making architectural decisions both in expanding existing projects and planning/implementing new systems
• 7+ years of full time programming experience in a group/team environment
• Able to navigate ambiguous requirements while prioritizing multiple projects, tasks, and bug fixes
• Experience protecting against security risks such as XSS, SQL Injection, appropriate use of TLS, session hijacking etc.
• Embraces Agile principles and Scrum
• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Experience, knowledge, and mindfulness of security best practices with server-side and client-side languages
• Cloud Networking and Network Security proficiency
• Significant experience with microservice architecture, server-side and client-side technologies such as NodeJS, MySQL, MongoDB, and VueJS
• Excel at communicating complex technical requirements with clarity, and the ability to influence others' technical design decisions
• Value collaboration, reviewing others work, mentoring others, as well as receiving constructive feedback

Desired Qualifications

• Knowledge of data security best practices related to PCI/DSS/CISP/HIPAA
• Knowledge of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Deployment
• Experience with containerization and orchestration (i.e. Docker/Kubernetes)
• Experience with Observability tools for logging, metrics, and alerting
• Hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud hosting providers
• Solid understanding of OAuth2 or OIDC
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform
• Experience with Golang, Microservice architecture, JSON, and Redis

Compensation

The total compensation for this role (base salary + bonuses) will be between $150,000 - $170,000/yr.

Location

Subsplash currently has operations in 22 states across the US! As much as we would love to have employees in as many states and countries as we have clients, we are currently limiting hiring to the states we already operate in. As a result of that, this role is only available as a 100% remote position if you reside in one of the following states:

AL, AR, AZ, CO, FL, GA, ID, IA, KS, MO, MI, NC, NM, OK, OH, OR, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA.
