Costco is seeking a dedicated and experienced Software Developer to join our iSeries Administration team. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical oversight, analysis, development and support of backend systems/applications on the iSeries systems. The Software Developer will also coordinate, mentor, collaborate and potentially lead others on development and delivery of solutions following Costco’s change management policies, procedures and software development life cycle.

ROLE
Develops or prototypes software modules at various levels of complexity, including but not limited to: service interfaces, process flows, service messages, SOA components, business logic, UI/UX, or data access logic.
Develops efficient code in various development languages for enhancements and bug fixes.
Designs, develops, tests, and deploys software solutions and process flows complying with standards, guidelines, and best practices.
Executes against project plans and delivers assignments within scope, schedule, and budget.
Creates, executes, and evaluates unit/integration tests.
Adopts and adapts to newly approved technologies, programming languages, tools, and standards.
Identifies, assesses, and formulates architectural impacts and solutions from business requirements.
Collaborates to ensure application designs utilize appropriate patterns and standards.
Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints, including the ability to estimate work needed.
Assesses functional and nonfunctional requirements and creates designs to meet both business and technical needs.
Creates conceptual and detailed technical design documents.
Provides implementation expertise contributing to rollback, post install, data migration, and other artifacts as required including creation of support plans.
Identifies and resolves problems, often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow, develops and evaluates options, and implements solutions.
Analyzes and develops iSeries code that supports backend systems.
Creates functional specifications for applications supported using standard practices, processes, and procedures.
Performs code reviews and unit testing; coordinates with development team members on development and QA tasks.
Adheres to IT division development standards and deployment processes and procedures.
Collaborates with Architects, Business Analysts, and Engineers to ensure requirements are clearly defined, understood, and documented.
Participates in development estimation, deployment, and release planning to ensure delivery of solutions.
Oversees second level support resolution of daily incident tickets, creation of KB articles for first level support, and provides on-call support.
Manages applications that support audit and compliance requirements.
Performs SOX audit testing and evidence collection.
Oversees continued personal growth in areas of technology, business knowledge, and Costco policies.
REQUIRED
5+ years’ functional and technical design experience.
5+ years’ programming experience with RPGLE, SQL, and CL on iSeries platform (IBM i).
3+ years’ iSeries DB2/400, job control, work management and systems security.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining real-time large scale business applications.
Document business rules effectively; ability to create data mapping documents after analyzing program and data flows.
Able to support off-hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
Experience designing and/or developing with Java, J2EE, XML, SOAP, REST, and Web Services.
Knowledge in Object-Oriented design architecture, analysis, UML modeling, Classic design patterns, J2EE patterns.
Ability to manage priorities and timelines.
Proven experience successfully implementing solutions for large cross platform projects.
Good understanding of design/development methodologies and project management concepts.
Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to logically think through problem resolution.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including ability to work with all management levels.
Able to work effectively and produce consistent results with minimum supervision.
Must have high integrity, accountability, a positive attitude, and be willing to do what it takes to make the team successful.
Database knowledge in a major RDBMS system such as DB2, MS SQL Server or Oracle.
Recommended
SQL concepts – Analyze and modify complex SQL queries, embedded SQL in SQLRPGLE, Cursor programming, SQL Sprocs.
Database Concepts – Create and Analyze Physical files, Logical Files, SQL tables, Indexes, Views, Stored procedures.
Good working knowledge in screen programming – Display Files, Subfiles, and Printer files.
ILE Programming – Analyze and Create program modules, binding directories, service programs.

Pay Range: $150,000 - $180,000
