Job Description
Overview:
Vulcan Steel Products wants to bring on board a bright, future leader in technology that can help us find better and smarter ways of tackling the
challenges of our IT initiatives. This opportunity will allow you to learn about our current and future objectives while expanding upon existing tools and helping create custom tools to fit every need. This position is a critical part in stepping up the teams’ support to the next level. Our team supports a variety of different users including a national sales staff, two on-site administrative offices, and three distinct light manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Manage tool versioning and releases.
  • Developing applications, reports, and dashboards to help our departments make informed decisions.
  • Developing technical software documentation including requirements, design, and user manuals.
  • Responding to staff requests for support followed up with diagnosing, troubleshooting, and solutions.
  • Documenting solutions and tracking support requests using a helpdesk and project management tool.
  • Work with end user and clients to assess need and changes for functionality and ease of use.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to find better, and more efficient ways of doing things.
  • Identify time needed and follow timelines for projects.
  • Manage any databases needed for identified software needs.
  • Able to (cross)-train team and users
Qualifications:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Software and database experience.
  • History of process improvement and problem solving.
  • Ability to lift up-to 50 lbs. on an infrequent basis.
  • Preferred
  • Strong desire to learn.
  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field OR 2 years of back-end programing languages (Java, C#, C++, etc.) and front-end scripting languages (HTML5, JavaScript, CSS) or an equivalent combination.
  • Good verbal skills.
  • Experience with VBA, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, and Salesforce Development.
