Position Summary
The Division of Allergy and Immunology serves the children of North Carolina in the diagnosis and treatment of known or suspected immune deficiencies and allergic diseases, including food and environmental allergies. Within the Division, established and anticipated research studies conducted by the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI) support a nationally recognized program. The program is dedicated to the study of new medicines and treatments, laboratory studies involving allergies and desensitization (mice and human subjects), and the education of community physicians, allied health professionals, and the public.

The Research Assistant will be part of a group of research staff in the Food Allergy Initiative recruiting for various industry and government funded projects. They will primarily support the SUNBEAM study conducted in collaboration with the UNC Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Duties will include recruitment for study participants, data entry, making preparations for study participant visits, basic lab specimen processing, and possible weekend on-call hours. This position will be required to screen, provide information to, and obtain informed consent from potential study participants. It will also provide administrative and organizational support to the study coordinators.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Must be skilled in organizing workflow and coordinating multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of the research principles and methods of data entry, collection, and analysis to complete defined assignments independently.
  • Must have clinical research experience and be able to analyze and interpret policy and procedural guidelines and apply those guidelines appropriately.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Office, Teams) and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Experience screening and data collection in Epic is preferred.
  • Experience working with obstetric clients is preferred but not mandatory.
