Job Summary
Clinician provides therapeutic services in the outpatient specialty clinic for patients receiving substance use disorder treatment. Patient and family services may include clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, brief therapeutic interventions, care plan development, case management, and referral to other medical services. Clinician utilizes an evidence-based framework with a multicultural and trauma-informed lens to support patients in their path to recovery. Clinician maintains active caseload and appropriate documentation of services in the electronic health record. Clinician functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team in the outpatient setting as well as part of the larger organization. Services uphold Colorado Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) and Licensure Standards. Clinician is actively involved in quality improvement, data monitoring, and in research projects.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for direct patient care. All documentation must clearly address the patient's individual life areas, in need of clinical support, to achieve positive clinical outcomes. Facilitates both educational and therapeutic groups as well as individual sessions and fundamental case management. (15%)
  • Ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment by not sharing information learned on the job, except when necessary in the performance of the job responsibilities or to improve a patient’s care. (10%)
  • Development and tracking support of Gemba metrics • Promotes alignment of team members with Denver Health strategic initiatives • Supports monitoring of compliance with Federal, State and Accreditation bodies (Random audits of clinical documentation) • Develop & sustain standard of work (15%)
  • Promotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellow employees, physicians, patients and visitors. Treats these individuals with courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displays courteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications. (10%)
  • Documents legibly, while accurately reflecting the patient’s clinical progression per regulatory and state guidelines. Responds to patient and referral needs, maintains a safe environment of care and ensures the maintenance of patient confidentiality. (10%)
  • Adheres to, complies with and demonstrates support for the mission and values of Denver Health. Supports and adheres to the Denver Health Dozen. (10%)
  • Supplemental clinical supervision and case consultation for assigned team members • Monitor clinical progression • Caseload distribution (15%)
  • Provides basic on-the-job training of assigned duties and assists the supervisor with the day-to-day activities; will reliably provide input regarding corrective action and performance appraisals. (15%)

Education:
  • Master's Degree from a certified Master’s program in psychology, counseling, social work, or other related human services degree. Required

Work Experience:
  • 1-3 years Typically 3 years of clinical experience post master’s degree Required

Licenses:
  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
  • LPC-Licensed Professional Counselor - LPC State Licensing Board Required and
  • ACD-Licensed Addiction Counselor - NAADAC - The Association for Addiction Professionals
  • LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker - LCSW State Licensing Board Required and

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Provides both clinical care and basic administrative assistance.
  • Performs patient care in accordance with evidence-based clinical framework; achieves high standards of care through the implementation and supervision of evidence based services and application of clinical policies and procedures for all patients and staff within a variety of BHS clinic settings.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Outlook, Word.
  • Knowledge and the ability to audit for compliance of State, Federal and Agency mandated documentation.
  • Possesses critical thinking skills that lead to the identification of the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
