Job Description
Social Worker, Nights 7a-3:30p, 8.5H with paid break. Must be willing to work and float to Turner guilford knight corrections center, Metro west dept of corrections, and Pre trial detention center


Master's degree in Social Work is required.


Must have 3 to 5 years of related experience.


Must have American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and


maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.


Clinical Social Worker, MSW is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of special


research studies related to the provisions of social services, counseling, leadership and policy


development while working with adult and pediatric patients. The functions both within the hospital


setting and in the satellite clinics.


Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary staff to design and implement appropriate treatment


plans, including discharge plans. Provides professional counseling and therapeutic intervention to


patients and/or families utilizing age specific treatment modalities. Collaborates with community


agencies which provide services for patients and their families. Leads or co-leads patients groups as


needed. Submits statistical reports as required. Participates in orientation and training of social


work and interdisciplinary staff. Participates on research projects as required for program planning


and evaluation. Maintains current knowledge of social work practice including specific knowledge


of age related bio-psychosocial issues. Participates in Committees as assigned. Supervises students.


Provides coverage as assigned. Participates in hospital, departmental and unit meetings. Performs


other related duties as required. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values


(Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).


Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.


Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to handle difficult and


stressful situations with professional composure. Ability to understand and follow instructions.


Ability to exercise sound and independent judgment Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate


technology and software applications.


Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50


pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.


Jobs in this group require frequent visual acuity to perform activities related to extended use of

Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast paced environment with occasional high


pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population

Exposure to various environments such as: communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal


preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also


be exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X-Ray, chemical exposures and


other potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to
