Job Description
  • The School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, Center for Infant and Child Lossis seeking aSocial Work Associate. * * Social Work Associate works under the supervision of a Social Worker (LCSW-C/S with individuals, couples, families, and other groups to manage and overcome a range to become emotionally and financially stable so they can support themselves. With the client as a participant, Social Work Associate uses individualized plans and applies the theories, knowledge, procedures, methods, and/or ethics derived from a formal educational program in social work to restore or enhance the social functioning of individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations or communities through assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and advocacy social services and to maximize the individual’s well-being. Essential Functions: o Counsel individuals, groups, families, or communities regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, childcare, and/or medical care. o Evaluate, refer, and counsel individuals, couples, or groups to assess needs and address issues. Provides preventive, protective, or supportive services to individuals or groups who are in or threatened by situations detrimental to their well-being. o Assist in the development of treatment plans and healthcare evaluations for a variety of client issues. o Consults with other therapists, case managers, and, if applicable, researchers. o Based on a comprehensive assessment identify service plans that best meet the client's needs and determine the best resources available. o Maintain case history records and document client(s) progress including services provided. Provide psychoeducation and support to link clients to community resources. o Performs other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree in social work Certification/Licensure: Licensed as Social Work Associate, LBSW or higher in the State of Maryland Other: No substitution of experience for minimum education requirement Hiring Range: $49,000 - $55,000, commensurate with total relevant education and experience.   UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
