Job Description
Harvard Business Publishing
(HBP) – the leading destination for innovative management thinking. We reach lifelong learners to improve the practice of management in a changing world. This mission inspires each of us to unlock the leader in everyone – including you!
The opportunity
As a mission driven organization focused on providing equitable opportunities for all to rise and succeed, HBP is offering a 10-week paid summer internship program for rising juniors and seniors that includes real work experience, leadership skill building, and guidance on succeeding in a corporate environment and effectively growing your career. The SOAR Internship Program is offered during the summer of 2023 for students enrolled in degree-seeking programs at accredited post-secondary institutions including, but not limited to, minority serving institutions.
The SOAR Internship Program will be based at our Brighton, MA headquarters and after company onboarding will follow a hybrid work schedule from June 5 to August 11, 2023.
The Human Resources team is hiring a summer intern. You’ll spend 3 weeks in three functions of your choice and work on a mini-project in each. Examples of mini-projects might be:
  • Facilities & Administration: Conduct ergonomic analyses to ensure safe working environments
  • Organizational Effectiveness: Design learning experiences to support leader development against corporate strategy
  • Talent Acquisition: Create compelling job descriptions and conduct resume screens for candidates
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) rotation: Audit content for bias
  • Employee Experience: Assist in coordination of new hire onboarding program and employee events
  • Compensation & Benefits: Assess effectiveness of corporate benefits offerings
What you’ll do
Contribute to Real Goals
You’ll join a team in an intern role that will include both participating in and leading projects that contribute to the overall goals of your team and the organization. You’ll get deep learning of the functional role you are in, as well as a broader understanding of all functional groups at HBP. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in group projects and presentations where you’ll share ideas and contributions with colleagues and HBP leadership.
Dive Into Leadership and Skill Building
Along with learning from your co-workers and managers you’ll participate in series of learning and development programs conducted by subject matter experts from across the organization that will build the core skills you’ll need to be successful in your first corporate position. There is no one better to provide you with lessons in leadership and building your business and financial acumen skills than HBP!
Discover the Unspoken Rules
What tone should you take in emails with your colleagues and manager? How should you show up in a meeting? How do you share your career growth interests with your manager? We’ll coach you on these and more to move you forward in your career and leadership journey.
Earn While You Learn
This is a paid internship offering impactful work assignments, a robust learning and development program, lessons from your manager and mentors, and participating in innovation discussions and ideation.
