Simulation Specialist

As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Simulation Specialist. Reporting to the Dean of the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College, this position will promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity.
Marian University is a Franciscan Catholic, comprehensive, regional institution of higher education dedicated to excellent teaching and learning in the liberal arts tradition and offers a multitude of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs. The university has experienced tremendous success and growth over the last decade and has an exciting opportunity for an Actor/Simulation Specialist to join our team of dedicated, mission focused individuals. The Simulation Specialist’s Job is to present everyday challenges (through the spoken dialogue of the avatars) for our aspiring educators to manage. This is an hourly position between 9:00-5:00, 37.5 hours per week on a schedule agreed to with the hire.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A Simulation Specialist possesses a multi-faceted and unique skill set including:
  • A mastery of their actor’s instrument: voice, body, and imagination
  • Performing experience (acting, improvisation, standardized patient and/or role-playing)
  • The innate ability to listen and respond with sincerity, empathy, and emotional honesty
  • The ability to match and maintain distinct, realistic voices
  • Actively engages the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services.
  • The capacity to both understand and honestly portray diverse psychological profiles

Required Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Work in a mixed-reality virtual simulator
  • Experience with (or interest in learning) gaming technology
  • Comfort with basic computer and video conferencing skills
