JOB TITLE: Shipping and Receiving Clerk

SUMMARY: DAWSON is looking for the next Shipping and Receiving Clerk to support our federal customers. This position is in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Shipping and Receiving Clerk will include but not limited to verify the correctness of incoming shipments, check for damaged good, ensure that goods are appropriately routed, prepare, and keep records of goods received support for the Federal Bureau of Investigations Logistics Units.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attach identifying tags or labels to materials or mark information on cases, or other containers.
  • Count, weigh, and record number or units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.
  • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods
  • May direct and coordinate the activities of other workers engaged in handling goods being received and delivered.
  • Perform clerical and physical tasks in connection with receiving incoming shipments.
  • Ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment
  • Delivers shipments to recipients
  • Mail received by 1PM must be delivered the same day
  • Tracking mail delivery
  • Receiving duties typically involve the following:
    • Verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records, checking for damaged goods
    • Ensure that goods are appropriately identified for routing to departments within the establishment
    • Preparing and keeping records of goods received.
  • Mail processed and out for delivery within 3 hours

  • Inspects, inventories, and documents incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Follow established guidelines

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work activities.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months of moving experience
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
