Job Title: Shift Lead - Star Buds - Glendale

Reports to: Store Director & Assistant Manager

Department: Retail Operations

Pay Range: $16-17.50

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Supervisory Responsibility: Budtenders

Location: Star Buds - Glendale


Position Objective:

The Shift Lead will provide assistance to the Store Director and Assistant Manager by supporting the activities and operations of the store, enforce policies and procedures, and operational guidelines. The Shift Lead will assist in monitoring employee actions, assist handling customer service issues/concerns, complete attendant duties as necessary and act as the Manager-On-Duty in absence of the General Manager and Manager, including opening/closing their assigned location.


Essential Functions:

Assist in Supervision of Attendants:

  • Lead by setting a positive example
  • Provide continuous coaching and training when applicable
  • Assist in training directives, including upselling and new hires when necessary
  • Communicates to team members any changes directives as assigned by Store Director and Assistant Manager
  • Monitor task(s) completion of Budtenders
  • Act as MOD on duty when the Store Director and Assistant Manager are not on site
  • Responsible for managing breaks for the hourly team members
  • Communicate to Store Director and Assistant Manager of any concerns or issues regarding staff immediately
  • Assist in carrying out management directives
  • Foster teamwork, including motivating team members

Focus on Customer Service:

  • Be a strong host personality on the floor and provide attendants with strategies to improve their guest interactions
  • Process returns in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain a strong product knowledge

Administration:

  • Maintain approved merchandising standards and display presentations, match the ordering buttons on tablet.
  • Verify drawer counts, follows all cash handling procedures
  • Verify cash counts at the beginning and end of each shift
  • Provide accurate change to attendants when needed
  • Follows and accurately completes opening and closing checklists when opening or closing location

Compliance and Safety:

  • Perform Budtending duties to assist when necessary, must maintain working knowledge
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for abiding by Star Buds Safety Program
  • Understand and Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the cannabis industry
  • Adhere to all company SOPs in regarding operational procedures

Additional Functions:

  • Knowledge and adherence to the policies, procedures, and goals of Starbuds. Must have a clear understanding and able to perform all Attendant Job Duties.

Additional Requirements:

  • Understanding of applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, safety regulations, local municipal codes and organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
  • Must obtain and retain a state-issued MED badge.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the cannabis industry.
  • Must pass any and all required background checks.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in Cannabis preferred NOT required.
  • 2+ year previous retail/customer service required.

Working Conditions:

  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift, carry and balance up to 50 pounds (50+ pounds with assistance), may include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, as well as stooping, bending over and/or crouching.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
