Job Description
SCOPE:


Duties include coordinate, monitor and provide assistance, a safe and secure environment to participants in the waiting area and in residence; assist navigators as needed; and contribute to the mission of Goodwill by providing a safe environment for formerly homeless individuals and families, guided by limits of established standards and accepted practice.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Supervise Housing Technicians during shift. Ensure staff coverage during meals and breaks.
  • Coordinate and assist facility staff as needed. Contact on-call support staff when needed.
  • Monitor the guests while they are in the residence and maintain vigilance for their safety and security. Serve as first responder and interventionist. Review incidents with guests, Housing Technicians, Case Managers, and other direct care staff with Senior Director.
  • Utilize trauma informed care principles when managing guests and staff.
  • Model appropriate interventions for staff including harm reduction, crisis intervention, and low barrier services.
  • Create a warm, welcoming environment for guests.
  • Assist guest in use of residence facilities and equipment, including computer, laundry and other household equipment.
  • Check facilities for cleanliness and inform management of need for repairs.
  • Participate in case conferences as needed with Housing Advocate Case Managers and Senior Program Director.
  • Maintain logs and make accurate and specific documentation of events occurring during shift including incident reports and notices of infraction.
  • Interview, select, recommend, hire, train and supervise assigned staff. Assign and check work. Provide direction to staff and assist in the investigation and resolution of problems. Evaluate performance and provide counseling and coaching to employees. Initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, terminations, or disciplinary measures. Maintain harmonious employee/employer relations. Determine current and future staffing levels.
  • Communicate with Senior Director any concerns with staff or guests.
  • Relieve and /or assist Housing Technicians when needed.
  • Perform any range of departmental assignments or special projects as requested.
  • Assist to orient guests, obtain intake information, and document in participant files.


OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:


  • Participate in any variety of meetings and task force groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform or assist with any duties or operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules, keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Demonstrate by words and actions a commitment to the Goodwill mission to help people experiencing homelessness and other barriers to become self-sufficient, working members of the community.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to deal with a wide variety of people in a positive manner.
  • Minimum one (2) year in homeless services setting or experience working in a milieu setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment as well as the ability to take direction.
  • Willingness to work nights and/or weekends.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Rehabilitation, Social Services, Human Services or related field. Relevant work experience may be substituted on an annual basis in lieu of degree.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, valid insurance, reliable transportation for travel to outlying locations and the ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Repetitive pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling stooping and bending.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. minimum.
  • Residential setting


TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:


Computer, standard peripherals and office equipment, kitchen appliances, yard maintenance equipment, company van, and safety equipment.


Time: 4:00PM-12:30AM


Shifts: Evenings Monday-Friday


Rate of Pay: $18/hr.
