Job Description

As the Service Planning Intern, you will:

  • Assist in Administering the bus stop administration program for geographical area.
  • Assist with analyzing new transit-operating scenarios and identifies where improvements may be made for associated procedures.
  • Assist Service Planners and Senior Service Planners.
  • Assist with evaluating the effectiveness of existing services in meeting the expectations of target markets.
  • Assist with analyzing viable transit travel markets and implements service plans designed to meet customers’ needs and encourage ridership.
  • Locate and quantifies viable transit travel markets using industry accepted analytical methods.
  • Participate as a team member to perform market analyses and help define service issues, alignments, and levels.


This internship is a part time internship and will not exceed 29 hours per week, expected to last 6 months but may be extended up to a year.


This is an in-person position that cannot be conducted remotely. If you do not live in the Salt Lake City area, this position would require you to relocate for the full duration of the internship.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

  • At least a Junior or Senior level student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, seeking undergraduate degree in Urban Planning, Economics, Business, Math, or closely related field is required.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Must submit a transcript of grades and two letters of recommendation.
  • No experience required.
  • Must have a valid Utah driver's license. Must be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 2 violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug within the last 10 years.


KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Customer Comment Module preferred.
  • Beginning Trapeze Reports transit scheduling software preferred
  • Quantitative analysis skills, Detail-oriented, Verbal, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of transit operations planning preferred
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
