Sensor Intelligence And Visualization - Student Assistant - Fall 2023 - Eosl

This job is for a Student Assistant position to work in the Sensor Intelligence and Visualization Division (SIVD) with the Electro-Optical Systems Laboratory (EOSL) at the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) starting the Fall 2023 semester. The candidate will work with teams on projects which support data fusion, sensor fusion, machine learning, manned/unmanned avionics improvement programs, and soldier protection programs. The division focuses on the design, analysis, software/hardware implementation, optimization, profiling, and experimental evaluation of computer algorithms, bridging the gap between algorithm theory and practical applications of algorithms in software engineering.
The SIV Division performs algorithm development, modeling, simulation, and analysis, as well as the communication of these results through traditional and non-traditional media such as Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR). The division primarily works in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) with specialties in electronic warfare, novel soldier interfaces, Electro-Optical / Infrared (EO/IR) scene generation, armor active protection, smart cities, and smart installations, light propagation, and turbulence, and EO/IR and Radio Frequency (RF) signature modeling.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Student Assistant/Research Assistant

• Experience in 1 or more programming languages (C/C++, Python, Matlab, Java, ROS, etc...)
• Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
• 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
• Task/team leadership experience
• Willingness to research and learn new topics beyond those traditionally taught in classes
• Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
• Familiarity with Linux and open-source tools
• Configuration management tools

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
