Job Description
SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Our client, a highly respected non-profit organization, is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant based in Southwest Florida. The Staff Accountant is responsible for all aspects of processing financial data leading to and including month-end closing.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Report unclaimed checks to State of Florida annually
  • Cross train with other departments on their functions which include grants, restricted funds, and other identified tasks
  • Prepare and import various types of journal entries; accruals, adjustments, reversals, manual entries as well as importing from other programs at month-end
  • Work on other projects as requested by the Accounting Supervisor or CFO
  • Fixed Assets (FA): Enter Fixed Assets additions, disposals, depreciation expense, manage FA documentation, and reconcile fixed assets to budget
  • Prepare, review, and report on financial statements and supporting schedules, and provide explanations on budget to actual variances
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit workpapers
  • Reconcile balance sheet, which includes bank accounts and select revenue/expense accounts
Requirements
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Staying compliant on all trainings and immunizations
  • Ability to pass a Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting, Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check
  • Bachelors degree from accredited institution in Business, Accounting, or other related fields
  • Efficient and effective communication skills
  • The understanding that all members of a Team matter equally
  • Non-Profit Experience preferred
  • Confidence in handling multiple project deadlines and goals simultaneously
  • Strong organization skills with the ability to meet various reporting deadlines
  • Microsoft Office 365 (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) Electronic Medical Record
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
