This position is placed in manufacturing plants in the Chicago area and reporting directly to the Corporate People Matters COE Sr. Specialists. There will be some travel between plants involved in these positions.


You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource or related field
  • 2+ years of HR investigative experience
  • 1+ years Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)

Even better, you may have...

  • Prior experience specifically conducting EEO/harassment or other investigations
  • Tenure working in a unionized environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • HR generalist experience
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Master's degree in a Human Resource related field

What you’ll be able to do:

  • Charges filed with state and federal government agencies (e.g. IL Department of Human Rights, EEOC)
    • Work with operating committee members, the Office of the General Counsel and outside counsel on related charges
  • Investigate workplace issues / concerns including:
    • Complaints of employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
    • Charges filed with state and federal government agencies (e.g. IL Department of Human Rights, EEOC)
      • Work with operating committee members, the Office of the General Counsel and outside counsel on related charges
    • Conduct virtual and in-person interviews onsite at manufacturing plant locations, as needed
  • Prepare, track, and maintain appropriate investigation documentation
    • Develop and implement investigation plans
    • Drive prompt closure of open cases / concerns
    • Manage employee data and statements in a highly confidential manner
  • Work with operating committee members, the Office of the General Counsel and outside counsel on related charges
  • Travel between Plants
  • Analyze case activity aligned with Early Warning Indicators and the People Operating System
  • Conduct other duties as are necessary to align with EEO regulations, and other internal and external policies and directives
  • Foster an effective, inclusive work environment / culture and relationships, balancing employee advocacy with stewardship of company goals and values
  • Develop and implement investigation plans
  • Review salaried investigations conducted by local HR personnel, provide feedback on the investigations process, and determine appropriate action
  • Partner with HRLO to ensure proper handling and disposition of cases involving UAW represented employees
  • Serve as a strategic partner, promoting ethical and compliant behavior that is aligned to Company policy and government regulations, with fair and equal treatment for the workforce
  • Conduct virtual and in-person interviews onsite at manufacturing plant locations, as needed
  • Coach, counsel, and educate employees on HR policies, processes, programs, and strategies
  • Complaints of employment discrimination, harassment, and retaliation
  • Write grievance statement of facts for employment discrimination cases and support grievance and arbitration processes
  • Manage employee data and statements in a highly confidential manner
  • Drive prompt closure of open cases / concerns
