We are seeking aSenior Principal Systems Engineerto lead systems engineering activities as part of our new Advanced Development Team. This role will be responsible for participating leading systems engineering involving all aspects of hardware and software subsystems for new products being developed for use in DoD environments. The candidate will take ownership of systems engineering for all aspects of the systems lifecycle. This candidate will also contribute to and support organization-wide projects across multi-disciplinary teams in electrical, mechanical, and software technical areas. The successful candidate will bring significant expertise in military electronics and avionics systems to our growing team as they lead the development of critical technologies and applications.

What You'll Bring to the Table:

  • Ability to mentor staff of various skills and personalities, including both technical staff and managers
  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving, planning, and abstract thinking skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to self-supervise and meet established objectives and expectations with minimal management oversight
  • Hands-on experience with Qualification testing per MIL Standards (MIL-STD-704, 810, 461, 464) and or RTCA (DO-160) that covers the expected military customer use environment and operational conditions.
  • Experience using DOORS is a plus.
  • Work independently to formulate systems engineering work products and integrating complex avionics (preferably).
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • 18+ years of experience in a systems engineering role.
  • Ability to adapt to fast moving environments with evolving deadlines and communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Distinguished record of creativity and innovation recognized as an authority in a field of engineering due to making advances in engineering principles, theories and concepts or their application.

Having this experience is a strong plus:

  • Strong knowledge and experience with SAE ARP4761, MIL-STD-882E, Joint Software System Safety Handbook (JSSSEH), DO-178B/C, MIL-HDBK-516C, DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, and/or AOP-52.
  • Understanding and development of VPX-based embedded processing systems.
  • Experience with specialized interfaces such as ARINC-818, ARINC-429, ARINC-661, MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-825.
  • Direct experience developing systems for certification to DO-254 / DO-178 standards with prior experience completing all SOI 1 through SOI 4.

As a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer, you’ll:

  • Continuously anticipate, communicate, track, and manage major risks and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and risk analyses at all levels of the system life cycle
  • Lead systems engineering development in accordance with DO-254 / DO-178 standards to achieve product certification, when applicable.
  • Coordinate and lead systems developments to align with customer requirements and company goals.
  • Works on multiple major projects requiring innovative solutions that advance and expand the line of Intellisense products
  • Ensure the project's compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications
  • Develop a plan and lead hands-on in all system and subsystem hardware and hardware/software integration and acceptance testing.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Provides guidance and technical expertise to multiple departments and many groups of the company. Independently identifies complex problems and devises optimal and innovative solutions to problems that cross organizational boundaries.
  • Prepare technical write-ups and sections for proposals, project reports, and SDRLs
  • Provide system architecture definition based on the required functionality for new avionics embedded systems products and capabilities
  • Mentor junior colleagues and help troubleshoot problems across multiple projects across multiple platforms
  • Actively participate in design reviews, requirements development, requirement reviews, test reviews, and other systems-related development activities
  • Lead systems engineering for all aspects of the systems lifecycle for these new product development efforts
  • Achieve results in minimal expected time and budget.

Pay Range:

$156,840 - $205,000

However, base salary for this position will vary based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
