Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY

We are pleased to offer the opportunity to work as a Senior Plumber within the DuPage County Facilities Management Department.
This position is assigned to the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) - Local 399 Bargaining Unit Position

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include:

  • Performs lead worker responsibilities including training new employees on job skills, operations and procedures
  • Works from building plans and drawings
  • Installs, alters, maintains, repairs or replaces plumbing systems or fixtures in the County buildings and facilities
  • Inspects work of subordinates for completion, adherence to standards and compliance with specifications
  • Installs, alters and maintains steam, air and hot/cold water lines
  • Requisitions and maintains tools, equipment, and related materials
  • Provides back-up assistance for other labor trades classifications
  • Directs the work of staff assisting with plumbing tasks
  • Estimates required labor and material on plumbing installation and repair jobs and schedules work

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE

Requirements include the following experience or equivalent combination of training and experience:

  • Four (4) years of experience as a Journeyman Plumber
  • Completion of plumbing trade courses
  • One (1) year of experience as a lead worker
  • Completion of a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma equivalent
  • Eight (8) years of experience in industrial plumbing work, or
A post offer physical is required.
A pre-employment background check is required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain an Asbestos Certificate within one (1) year of hire
  • A valid Illinois driver’s license is required
  • This position requires a plumber’s license with certification to test and service RPZ Backflow Prevention Devices
