Role & Opportunity


At this pivotal point in company growth, RISETM is looking for a passionate and team-oriented Senior Mechanical Engineering Manager to join us in shaping the future of heavy duty linear actuation and heavy machinery. Your end-to-end engagement will include product development from concept through detailed design and prototype testing to progress new projects through the engineering lifecycle. You will play a key role in launching the next generation RISETM hardware, from demonstration proof of concepts through product design. You will be responsible for all technical and personnel aspects of the mechanical engineering department. You will own short to midterm (1-3 years) department development and execution, career path, and vision for the department.


In This Role You Will:


  • Be willing and able to perform as an individual contributor in a pinch
  • Foster a culture of meeting and exceeding customer’s expectations
  • Motivate and mentor mechanical engineering staff, providing technical direction and guidance
  • Translate business, strategic and financial direction and goals from executives to functional team members’ goals
  • Hire and direct staff to meet scheduled commitments
  • Develop and maintain resources loading and budget for the ME team
  • Create and oversee department initiatives to support training, process improvement and the creation and maintenance of best practices and protocols
  • Ensure the optimal application of skill and engineering resources for Rise to meet product development schedules


Requirements


Ideally You Have:


  • Experience with fabrication processes, such as metal forming & CNC, injection molding, adhesives, composites, and complex mechanisms
  • Proven troubleshooting skills and structured problem-solving approach
  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong track record of success in raising department’s performance through institutionalizing best practices
  • Proven track record of mentoring and coaching staff
  • Proficiency with 3D design tools like Solidworks and other CAD suites
  • Experience working cross-functionally in a dynamic, high tech, startup environment
  • Knowledge about CAD design best practices, (eg. master modeling vs incontext design, etc.). SolidWorks knowledge is a strong plus
  • 5+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineering Manager or similar role, in Product Development involving complex, electro-mechanical system development and integration, with several years of experience as a mechanical engineering individual contributor in progressively more senior roles prior to managerial role
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T
  • Proven technical aptitude and experience with electro-mechanical design and related manufacturing processes. Some examples might include: Complex mechanical assemblies; Rotating machinery; Tolerance Studies; Design for assembly / manufacturing; EE and ME component and material selection; FMEA, Design for life.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated experience with FEA analysis and verification of results
