Job Description
Dephy is looking for a candidate who was born to be an engineer: someone that has an urge to understand how things work, and who gets excited when there is no known solution to the problem at hand. About The Company


Dephy is a robotics design firm founded in 2016 with the primary mission of bringing humans Beyond Nature™ with performance-enhancing wearable robotics technologies. We utilize a practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving. We are active in the military, academic, medical, business, and consumer markets.


Description Of Role


In this role, you will be responsible for leading, growing, and improving the mechanical engineering team. This team is made up of design, mechatronic, and manufacturing engineers and works across a range of prototyping and product development projects for multiple target market applications. There will be multiple project workflows happening simultaneously on the team and you will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing the workflows. You will work closely with other functional managers, project leaders, and external partners to deliver results as a high-energy cross-functional organization.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Establishes, implements, and maintains administrative policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
  • Facilitates communication among clients/customers and engineers, ensuring specifications, budgets, and deadlines are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Serves as project manager for multiple projects, creating timelines and cost projections, organizing collaborative meetings, and ensuring projects comply with specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  • Maintains knowledge of new trends, developments, technologies, materials, and best practices; applies this knowledge to continually improve product lines and production efficiency.
  • Leads, coordinates, and determines requirements for the mechanical engineering function including research and development, production, testing and quality assurance of new and existing product lines.
  • Works closely with technical experts, using a broad technical understanding of electromechanical systems and prototyping.


Leadership Responsibilities:


  • Provides constructive and timely performance feedback, evaluations, and career development.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department, daily meetings and regular check-ins with the team.
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains engineering staff as needed.
  • Leads a team of mechanical, mechatronics and manufacturing engineers.


Requirements


Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with leading technical teams through wearable devices, robotics, or other motion controls product development projects
  • Excellent teamwork with other project and engineering leaders to deliver complex products.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines through a team. Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Capable of leading rapid electromechanical development efforts through appropriate prototyping efforts
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required; Masters degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of people management experience is preferred.
