Senior Java Software Architect
:
SUMMARY
As a Senior Java Software Architect, you assume overall responsibility for creating and driving the technical strategy of a premier Black Knight cloud based application. You will partner with business, product and a self-managed agile team to craft highly scalable, flexible and resilient cloud (private and public) architectures that provide durable solutions to business problems. You will guide the design and delivery of complex integrations involving UI, backend API and cloud components. You will accelerate and influence the adoption of modern technologies to reduce cost of ownership and the speed and accuracy of delivery to solidify and extend Black Knight’s competitive advantage. You will collaborate with product, business and agile team members to deliver value across all products.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Will assist in resolving support problems as necessary
  • Plans, designs and develops moderately complex software solutions, utilizing the Agile SAFE framework
  • Architects systems designed to run natively in and across public cloud providers
  • Determines specifications, then plans, designs and develops moderately complex software solutions, utilizing appropriate software engineering processes – either individually or in concert with project team
  • Works directly with OpenShift (OCP) services and technologies
  • Develops microservice applications and custom integration solutions, generally for one business segment; solutions include enhancements and interfaces, functions and features
  • May assist in .NET design as needed
  • Researches and acquires knowledge in emerging technologies and apply knowledge to proposed business solutions
  • Understands and consistently applies the attributes and processes of current application development methodologies
  • Provides solid knowledge and skill regarding the integration of applications across the business segment
  • Provides Java design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
  • Ensures Black Knight technology vision and direction is observed in existing and proposed architectures
  • Recommends programming, development standards, procedures, and programming architectures for code reuse
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires 12+ years of experience in information technology with at least 8 years of experience working in applications architecture
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience
  • Experience with Spring Boot framework
  • Experience with Java development
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A thorough understanding of design patterns and their application
  • Experience with Kafka (a plus)
  • Familiarity with REST API concepts and technologies and tools such as OpenAPI/Swagger
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • Ability and willingness to learn quickly and act in the role of teacher, mentor and coach
  • Proficiency with source code management including CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of unit testing, TDD (Test Driven Development) and/or BDD (Behavioral Driven Development)
  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
  • Willingness to act as a servant architectural leader to an agile team
  • Understanding and experience with container-based technologies such as docker
  • Ability to define, communicate a shared architectural vision to ensure developed system is fit for its intended purpose
  • Experience in delivering solutions utilizing microservices based architectures
  • Experience working with RedHat OpenShift / any of the Kubernetes based platforms (EKS/ECS, Pivotal Cloud Foundry) highly preferred
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization (e.g., executive, management, individual contributors)
  • Familiarity with nonrelational database technologies such as Dynamo, Mongo, or Redis
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Experience with modernized frontend frameworks such as Angular and React
  • Experience with C# and .NET (a plus)
  • Familiarity with API Management tools such as Apigee
  • Familiarity working in a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) leveraging Agile principles
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills
  • Experience working with applications in the cloud
  • Familiarity with opensource database technologies such as Aurora, MySQL, or others
