The Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Center for Information Technology and Analytics (CITA) has a new opportunity for an individual(s) who love problem-solving and is civic minded, who is interested in designing, building, and implementing analytical models and visualizations to provide OIG with facts and insights to promote economy, effectiveness, efficiency, and integrity in City government. Under guidance, this position develops and employs innovative techniques for data analysis, resulting in the extraction of critical, near real-time information.


Duties


  • Develops, maintains, and manages dashboards and other BI solutions
  • Performs quality reviews of large volumes of data sets, resolves discrepancies, duplicates, missing information, and validates information
  • Performs related duties as required
  • Under the guidance of a Chief Forensic Data Analyst, extracts, merges, and conducts analysis of large data sets from multiple external data sources
  • Recognizes business requirements and devises solutions to meet data requirements
  • Compiles, develops, and generates statistical and narrative reports to summarize findings
  • Prepares reports, documents process, and provides project presentations
  • Develops basic to moderate SQL queries to extract and manage data


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree plus two years of work experience in data analysis/management OR fact-finding research, analysis and reporting of which one year is in programming and modifying computer applications, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Work experience in an investigatory or law enforcement organization
  • Work experience with data visualization software products, e.g. Tableau, Power BI, and etc.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Data Science, Predictive Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Management, or related field


Moderate Knowledge Of


  • Software and data management tools such as R, Tableau, Python, SPSS, MySQL, Oracle or other similar tools
  • Quantitative data analysis methods
  • Report writing to summarize findings/results
  • Methods and techniques of data base analysis and design
  • Structured Query Language (SQL) and reporting platforms
  • Tools to query and analyze data in a relational database
  • Data mining processes and tools


ANNUAL SALARY: Range: $69,984 - $114,012 (annual increase first three years)


Starting $69,984 (non-negotiable); Post six-month review $73,332


TRAVEL AND SCHEDULE: Travel outside Chicago is not required.


Standard work hours are 8:30am-4:30pm, flexibility permitted.


RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: Employees must be a resident of the City of Chicago and proof of residency is required at the commencement of employment.
