Overview

A Milliman Senior Healthcare Management Consultant serves a diverse array of clients including health insurance companies, government agencies, healthcare providers, and healthcare purchasers. Successful consultants are solution-focused leaders who help clients develop and implement strategies for protecting and growing profitable market share, diversifying their businesses, and leveraging their assets. Our team works side-by-side with clients, drawing on our expertise, skills, tools, and data to help clients solve business challenges. The most successful consultants are inquisitive, apt listeners, can quickly synthesize information, embrace innovation, project confidence and intuitiveness.

Example projects include:

  • Assessing a client's clinical programs and analytic models
  • Helping a client prepare for accreditation or meet government requirements
  • Write a proposal to help a client win a new block of business
  • Conduct clinical program evaluations to identify and design program improvements
  • Design a pricing model and marketing strategy for a new product
  • Evaluate a client’s administrative operations to identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Conduct a market study to evaluate the feasibility of launching a new product
  • Help a state government agency develop a strategy for designing a health program

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare reports and develop engaging presentation materials
  • Communicate results and facilitate discussions with clients and other stakeholders as needed to help clients develop their desired policy options
  • Support clients on program strategy, design, development, and implementation
  • Ensure quality control processes and procedures are followed
  • Be responsible for project management and tracking (may act as an overall project leader or work in conjunction with other team members to staff larger projects)
  • Keep abreast of trends and regulatory changes affecting clients

Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organization skills to manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Superior problem-solving capabilities and learning agility
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required, and an advanced degree is preferred (e.g., Master of Business Administration, Master of Healthcare Administration, or similar)
  • Clinical consultant positions require clinical credentials (e.g., BSN, RN, NP, MD, etc.) and experience working in a managed care or hospital/large clinic setting that is operating under shared financial risk or value-based reimbursement
  • Ability to work within a team environment and independently manage own work
  • 3 - 5 years' healthcare consulting experience in a similar consulting role, or related experience, and involvement with data and analysis

Location

This role is based out of the Milliman office in Indianapolis, IN, but candidates hired into this role may work remotely from anywhere in the US.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $130,000 to $220,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certification, location, etc.

Education

Required

Bachelors or better.

Preferred

Master of Nursing or better.
Masters or better in Business Administration or related field.
Masters or better in Health Administration or related field.
Masters or better in Public Health or related field.
