Our Thermo King business is connecting our transport HVAC and refrigeration products and providing digital solutions to help our customers efficiently protect drivers, passengers, and cargo. Using our connected solutions, our customers reduce fuel consumption, carbon emissions, and downtime while increasing the comfort and safety of passengers and shelf life of cargo, including essential cargo like food and pharmaceuticals.

The Senior Engineer - Project Lead will be responsible for leading and managing critical product design improvement or source change projects/programs. This individual will lead and/or support product development projects by applying Engineering principles and technical rigor to develop solutions that satisfy product requirements, cost, quality and schedule. This individual will lead and support cross-functional project teams to align product requirements, develop solutions, direct validation activities, and support team members to implement solutions in production. This position is eligible for a Hybrid work schedule and will be based out of our Minneapolis, MN location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and lead project plans, prioritize tasks, and write clear technical requirements in collaboration with product development teams and suppliers, and present materials in formal and informal environments.
  • Develop DFMEA and DVP (design verification plan), execute test plans, and analyze and summarize test results.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, drawings, documentation and Bill of Materials.
  • Exercise technical project management principles to achieve project quality, cost and schedule targets.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to lab technicians and other team members.
  • Author lab test plans, conduct testing, analyze and interpret results and execute design updates based on the results.
  • Domestic and international travel (up to 20%) may be required.
  • Maintain orderly project records. Analyze, condense and present data results and recommendations.
  • Conduct design reviews, provide status updates to stakeholders, and present projects to leadership for approvals as part of phase gate process.
  • Generate, evaluate, analyze and develop design concepts for mechanical components and assemblies to meet product requirements provided by Product Management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and at least 7-10 years of experience in engineering or product development is required.
  • Experience with product development phase/gate processes – from concept to completion.
  • Strong project planning / management and organizational skills.
  • Develop new concepts, conducting feasibility studies, and developing and executing validation plans.
  • Self-motivated with strong collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to work and lead cross-functional teams spread across multiple geographical regions.
  • Ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information to make informed engineering decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience in refrigeration systems, HVAC and/or electrical systems is a plus.

Base Pay Range: $70,000 - $144,000
