Senior Data Scientist

REMOTE and/or MOSS LANDING, CA / FULL-TIME

Verdagy is creating a new class of very large-scale hydrogen electrolyzers that will help decarbonize some of the most difficult to abate sectors of our global economy. Our approach is to design large hydrogen electrolyzers that will be used to architect very large-scale hydrogen production plants. In your role as a data scientist, you will work with members of the lab and engineering teams to analyze large data sets to automate historical and real-time processing for anomaly detection, predictive performance, and deep understanding of our electrochemical plants.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This role will contribute to many different domains over time. Those domains may include:

• Advance Verdagy’s understanding of our hydrogen plant with large scale data analyses, machine learning models, and data visualization
• Building data pipelines to connect sensors, databases, dashboards, and ML tools.
• Gather requirements, define scope, and execute on new data-related projects
• Building and maintaining plant operations dashboards for scientists, engineers, and management
• Present findings to science, engineering, and business stakeholders
• Develop ML models and processes for predictive maintenance, plant component lifetime, statistical process control, and automated diagnostics
• Identify new areas where data science, ML, and related tools can add value for Verdagy and our customers
• Accelerate the R&D work of lab chemists and engineers by automating data analyses and providing statistical and ML domain expertise

PRIOR EXPERIENCE & PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES

• Self-starter comfortable solving ambiguous problems
• Passion for decarbonization and fighting climate change
• Very comfortable learning new domains and working cross functionally
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Bonus points if you have experience with electrolysis, industrial processes, PI software, or Seeq software
• Substantial experience as a data scientist in industry
• Some familiarity with electrochemistry preferred
• Substantial experience writing both analysis code and production-quality code in Python using Pandas and machine learning libraries
• Strong mathematical and statistical modeling skills and experience

Salary Range: $130 – 170k + Equity
