Job Description

The Senior Cost Analyst is responsible for financial accounting, cost allocation, collection of data and preparation of reports that maintain AbbVie’s cost accounting systems for businesses supported. Other responsibilities may include inventory analysis and reconciliation, reconciliation of intercompany balances, tax package preparation, in-transit accounting, DOH monitoring, planning activities and ad hoc financial analysis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that costs are allocated according to the established procedures which includes manufacturing product costing, manufacturing variance ( direct labor, materials and overhead) analysis.
  • Responds to requests for internal and external audit and intercompany billing for tax allocation purposes under guidance of a manager.
  • Manage department reports and directly support the monthly closing activities.
  • Performs month-end processes for businesses supported. Includes but not limited to inventory reconciliation, deferred margin activity analysis, manufacturing variance analytics including purchase price variances from raw material purchases and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries and account reconciliations for specified general ledger accounts including inventory, fixed assets and liability accounts.
  • Support planning activities such as: plan LBE (Latest Best Estimate), Update LRP (Long Range Plan) and other ad hoc
  • Prepare and issue monthly, quarterly, and annual results for businesses supported, including collaboration with business FP&A to ensure complete and accurate results with meaningful variance commentary.
  • Attends plant reviews and understands the growth/performance of their business.
  • Maintains inventory cycle count program and reporting for corporate compliance.
  • Perform intercompany reconciliation.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with standard cost variances analysis required.
  • Strong experience in Excel required, SAP preferred.
  • CPA and/or MBA desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience in Power BI is a plus.
  • Minimum 4+ year’s related accounting experience is required with at least 1 year in a manufacturing environment.
