Job Description

Hotel Engine is a Denver-based travel tech company on a mission to radically simplify trip management for businesses. We're not a cumbersome travel management company, nor an online price aggregator. We're a powerful network that brings hotels and businesses together. Our members save time, money and effort in managing their lodging programs, and our partners get access to loyal, high-value business travelers. It's a true win-win. Following a 2021 series B funding round at a $1.3 billion valuation, we achieved remarkable growth in 2022. We expect 2023 to be our best year yet.

Across our organization, we're powered by exceptional talent. From our large Engineering and Product teams to Sales, Supplier Relations, Member Support, Data, Marketing and Operations, our team is forward-thinking, data-driven and customer-obsessed. We're also a lot of fun — one of the many reasons we were named a Best Place to Work by Built In Colorado for the past four consecutive years.

We value our individuality, and we also understand that together, we thrive. Most importantly, we know we're not for everyone! Complacency doesn't live here. We're focused on finding the right people who are energized by our culture and bring diverse experiences and backgrounds that will help us unlock our full potential. About the Role:

We are searching for a highly motivated Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team and help us scale to the next level while promoting a team-oriented and highly collaborative culture! Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will have high visibility and interaction with various departments throughout the company. We are fast-paced, high-growth startup, which means we build processes, solve problems and manage competing high priorities daily.

In this role, you'll focus on taking ownership of key processes during month-end close, driving improvements that will facilitate a faster and more accurate reporting cycle. The Senior Accountant will have a large impact on accounting operations, cross-functional projects, and audit readiness efforts. The ideal candidate will proactively seek out process improvements and develop strong relationships across the Company.

Requirements and responsibilities:

  • Establish strong relationships with cross-functional peers, representing the Accounting department with a high degree of collaboration.
  • Partner continuously with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure the accuracy of information recorded in the financial statements as it relates to expense recognition, bad debt reserves, and revenue recognition.
  • Partner throughout the finance department to streamline our reporting packages & flux analysis, with a focus on consistency and predictability.
  • Proactively review GL transaction details throughout the month to streamline month-end close timelines, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of information recorded.
  • Investigate account fluctuations proactively and thoroughly, and provide meaningful insights for Finance Leadership.
  • Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations with superior attention to detail and critical evaluation of outcomes.
  • Assist Accounting & Finance leadership with special projects & complex analyses.
  • Prepare timely and accurate information to support financial audits, monthly close packages, and quarterly financial review packages.

Qualifications:

  • Heavy Excel required; NetSuite, Intacct, or Oracle GL experience, required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, required
  • Self-directed worker with the ability to resolve issues independently with minimal supervision, but also asks appropriate questions as needed
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, required
  • 2 years of experience with a large regional or Big Four audit firm, strongly preferred

Cash compensation:

  • The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $120,000. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise and may vary from the amount above.

Hotel Engine Total Rewards Philosophy | We recognize that there is more to work than day-to-day responsibilities. Hotel Engine has been recognized on Built-in Colorado's Best Places to Work list 3 years in a row (2020-2022) for our positive culture and robust growth opportunities.

As a company, we're also dedicated to giving back to our greater community, and have comprehensive corporate social responsibility programs supporting community, social justice and environmental causes. In addition to a collaborative, high-performing team environment, we're pleased to offer benefits including:

  • Stock options for all associates + performance-based stock options
  • 401(k) plan with a match program
  • Annual performance bonuses
  • Hotel discounts through our exclusive platform
  • Paid parental leave and family medical leave
  • Unlimited PTO + 2 paid days each year to volunteer with your favorite non-profit
  • Competitive base salaries
  • Insurance benefits including medical coverage (with a plan available at no cost to employees) + 100% paid dental and vision insurance
  • The ability to make a real impact in an incredibly fast-growing organization; you'll never be just another cog in the wheel.
