Senior Copywriter (Food Writer)

We’re on the quest for an amazing food writer. You should be a highly charged communicator with one hand in the cookie jar of culinary writing, and another hand in the appetizing realm of conceptual Marketing ideas. We are not shy about our passion for nourishing people and the planet, and neither should you be. We are a selective and diverse group of writers who collaborate, research, consult, modify, condense, organize, correct, review, strategize, and proofread with the intention of providing correct, consistent, and complete customer-facing communication that represents the Whole Foods Market brand.

Not the stuffy, white table-cloth kind of writing, but the approachable, next-door neighbor type of writing that wants to showcase your love for the latest recipe, ingredient, restaurant, or hack. The Job

• Ability to write in diverse styles while keeping the Whole Foods Market voice prevalent—including writing snappy, short copy for headlines and subheads, and concise, clear, informational, and promotional copy.
• Strong background in culinary and food writing. A plus: experience in how-to-cook content and translating it into consumer-friendly language.
• Solid understanding and genuine passion for natural food and wellness products.

The Hard Skills

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency.
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced, results oriented environment.
• Ability to quickly research and build knowledge base on a variety of topics and create the context necessary for communicating information clearly to customers.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle confidential information.
• Established writing, editing and proofreading skills including excellent English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Basic understanding of digital and print marketing and their production processes.

Desired Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent work experience)
• Promotional marketing and editorial work (5 years)
• Experience editing back-end web platforms (2 years)
