Job Description
About Us

219 Design is a dynamic and innovative company specializing in product development. For almost 20 years, we’ve been helping companies invent products that change the world. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in helping companies develop products that push the boundaries of possibility and challenge the status quo. Our clients are leaders in industries that include medical devices, surgical robotics, industrial automation, consumer electronics, merchandising, transportation, and more.

Join our dedicated team and be part of our mission to develop groundbreaking technology that positively impacts the world.

Working at 219

We believe that iteration is key to developing great products AND to forming a great workplace. We regularly try new things in the office, keeping what works and letting go of what doesn’t. Engineers at 219 work together in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team, across industries, on a variety of technologies. Continuous learning is a necessity and a passion so 219ers have a high level of expertise - often across disciplines. Most 219ers are currently in a “hybrid” work mode and spend some time in the office, some time at home, and even occasionally take advantage of our short term “work-from-wherever” policy.

Requirements

Your Role

  • Participate in weekly Software Discussion meetings to discuss best practices and share project triumphs and struggles that could benefit from the input of others.
  • Advise less experienced engineers on the team on software design and development practices
  • Chime in on our Slack channels when you see an opportunity to help out a colleague.
  • Collaborate with 219ers across engineering disciplines during development.
  • Maintain awareness of bigger picture context for 219 Design and our clients while executing tasks.
  • Participate in code reviews by providing timely feedback to peers in a constructive manner.
  • Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Define and execute tasks required to complete projects with well-defined or open-ended requirements.

Qualifications

  • Track record of success with the development of complex systems
  • BS degree (or higher) in Computer Science or a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience
  • Excited and able to work on medical and other safety-critical devices
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Proficiency with C++ development
  • Collaborative, but can also handle autonomy and self-management
  • 4+ years experience as a software engineer
  • Authorized to work in the US without sponsorship

Bonus Points

  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Qt experience
  • Experience with GUI development
  • Experience with test-driven development
