GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Responsible for preparing calculations, reconciliations, journal entries and other tasks as deemed necessary, especially as it relates to month-end close activities.


Key Responsibilities


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develops and maintains sufficient documentation over various processes impacting the financial statements.
  • Prepares and records journal entries accurately and timely.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Analyzes balance sheet and income statement accounts as assigned and explains variances.
  • Prepares and maintains various schedules to support financial statement lines.
  • Compiles management reports for analysis.
  • Assists managers and controllers with process documentation and offers suggestions for process improvement.
  • Assists in maintaining and analyzing costs.
  • Performs timely account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
  • Prepares documents for both internal and external audits.
  • Performs assigned tasks in order to maintain an effective control environment
  • Investigates and assists with resolving problems impacting the financial statements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Detail oriented and organized.
  • Plans the time, method, manner, and/or performance sequence of own work; may also occasionally assist in planning work assignments performed by others within a limited area of operation.
  • Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with vendors, internal and external customers, the general public, and other employees of the organization.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides numbers (using currency and other forms of measurement).
  • Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Collaborates and works well with others.
  • Frequently makes or assists with making decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.

Education and Experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or a related field (required).
  • Experience with publicly traded SEC registrants (preferred)
  • Master of Business Administration degree (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field (required).

Computer Skills
  • Advanced: Accounting, alphanumeric data entry, payroll systems, spreadsheet, word processing/typing.
  • Basic: Database.
  • Intermediate: 10-key.

Certificates and Licenses
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
