Title: Security Supervisor


Division: Operations


Reports to: Manager of Security


Position Status: Part-time; Non-Exempt


Salary Range: $16 - $18/hour


Position Summary


The Security Supervisor position is highly visible, serves as part of Operations & Finance and is responsible for providing and supervising security for the VMHC properties throughout buildings and grounds.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Monitors security cameras, alarm and fire systems
  • Assigns post orders and updates daily procedures
  • Escorts and monitors all contractors, venders and visitors in non-public areas
  • Writes correspondence including logs and reports; maintains documentation pertaining to security and emergency training and accident and incident reports
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Monitors security risks to the campus and patrons and reports potential problems to the Director of Facilities
  • Supervises and coordinates schedules for all Security Officers
  • Ensures operation of all security equipment to include preventive maintenance and troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Secures premises by patrolling campus and access points, permits entry into the buildings and ensures the security, safety and well-being of staff and visitors; informs violators of policy and procedures
  • Receives and notifies departments of deliveries; processes and delivers mail and packages
  • Adheres to and implements policies & procedures of the security and maintenance departments
  • Responds to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to staff and visitors


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Necessary


  • Works well under pressure and with limited supervision
  • Ability to maintain professional composure
  • Professional appearance is required
  • Excellent customer service; must be able to project a certain level of hospitality


Education & Experience Requirements


  • 3 years security supervision experience preferred
  • Computer experience preferred
  • High school education
  • Ability to pass and maintain the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services registration for unarmed security officers


Note & Special Requirements


  • Ability to work a flexible/rotating schedule that may require early morning, evening and weekend hours
