Job Description

Position: Security Specialist, GS-12

Division: Criminal Investigative Division

Unit: Administrative Unit

Location: Washington, DC

Working Hours: 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Salary: GS-12: $94,199.00 - $122,459.00

Full Performance level: GS-12

Number of Positions Available: 1

Duration: Full Time/Permanent

Mission Statement:

The mission of the FBI is to protect the American People and uphold the Constitution of the United States.

Major Duties:

  • Review, analyze and evaluate requests for investigations, regarding security clearances, requirements, violations and assessments.
  • Initiate or conduct all required arrest record checks regarding the subject(s) of the investigation, acquaintances, employers, relatives, etc.
  • Review requests for access to the space and division systems and programs, and make recommendations to CSO and/or management.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Security Officer (CSO), provides information and guidance on security-related matters, conduct security inspections and awareness training, and manage security records.
  • Conduct interviews, briefings/debriefings, document collected information, and prepare oral and written reports for analyses, assessments and conclusions.

Specialized Experience (SE): Please make sure your specialized experience/requirement(s) can be identified in your resume. Applicants must meet the qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Inspecting Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) facilities for compliance with established federal security regulations.
  • Serving as an advisor and consultant to staff members on best practices of applying security regulations, orders and procedures.
  • Recommending safeguards, space constrictions, tracking and information-handling systems for National Security Information (NSI) and other sensitive information.
