Security Officer Ii (Ft) Varied , Woodridge Hospital

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Security Officer II is responsible for the safety and security of all facility employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and health system property and equipment. This individual will maintain public order through visible patrols, response to emergencies, public liaison activities, and documentation of occurrences. The Officer will assist outside agencies in mitigating risk and investigating crimes and incidents. The Officer will perform safety checks/assessments/inspections and to correct or take steps to correct any safety or security hazards. The Officer will enforce policies and procedures related to security at the location, and directs both foot and vehicular traffic in and around the location, when necessary. Additionally, the Officer will supervise and enforce all systems designed to monitor or identify personnel and vehicles entering the location. The Officer will log activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences. This individual will complete fire drills for areas both internal and external to the facilities and completes extinguisher checks as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license required.
• Must complete de-escalation training/certification within 60 days of hire.
• In VA: Must possess or obtain license within 6 months of hire date.
• For Tennessee locations: Must possess or obtain within 90 days state certification as a private security officer. Sworn police officers in the state of TN must provide a current copy of the post certification card in lieu of state certification as a private security officer. At any time the officer is no longer a sworn officer, he/she must go through the licensing process within 30 days.
• In TN: MUST POSSESS OR OBTAIN WITH IN 90 DAYS STATE CERTIFICATION AS A PRIVATE SECURITY OFFICER. Sworn police officers in the state of TN must provide a current copy of the POST certification card in lieu of state certification as a private security officer. At any time the officer is no longer a sworn officer, he/she must go through the licensing process within 30 days.
• CPR required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• International Association of Hospital Safety and Security basic certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire and maintained throughout employment.
