Job Description
  • Collaborate on the development of the master schedule with building stakeholders
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling or enrolled in university program
  • School Counselor License
  • Plan academic and celebratory events
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Act as the building assessment coordinator

  • Respond to school crises and emergency situations
  • Provide individual, group, and crisis-response counseling
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate desired with School Counselor (NT) endorsement, or eligible for permit through Michigan Department of Education
  • Monitor students’ overall academic performance and collaborating with staff members to develop necessary academic supports for students
  • Strong communication, technology, and organizational skills
  • Provide resources to students to engage in career and college exploration and establish strong community partnerships to facilitate academic and employment opportunities
  • Provide responsive services and mentoring to meet the needs of students
  • Act as a systems change agent to improve equity and access, achievement, and opportunities for all students
  • Accurately and appropriately interpret and utilize student data to implement support as needed
  • Assist students in the development of social emotional skills and appropriate communication
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, caregivers, and staff
  • Consult with individual students/caregivers to discuss academic gaps and research potential supports or interventions
