Job Description
Position Overview

1 Position

This is a paid position to assist with Active Transportation duties, programs, and projects for a period that will not exceed 12 months beginning the summer/fall of 2023 and ending the summer/fall 2024.

Work Schedule: Flexible Schedule, up to 20 hours per week.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Position Duties and Tasks:
  • Assist the Transportation Planner with Community Transportation safety committee, i.e. social media, event organization, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Assist Active Transportation Planner with integrating/coordinating Active Transportation at the Gardner’s Market
  • Assist Transportation Planner with the implementation/coordination of the Community Transportation Safety Plan
  • Assist consultant on having robust public engagement for bikeway and trails master plan update by increasing social media and participating at community events to get the word out.
  • Long Range Transportation Plan
  • Assist with Transportation Project Management:
    • Bike Plan Update
    • Long Range Transportation Plan
    • Assist in management of Transportation Planning Studies
  • Assist with postings, surveys, and that type of field work.
  • Assist Active Transportation Planner with leading the Healthy Places Program (through Healthy by Design) Work Group, this would include assisting with the grant received by Riverstone Health regarding barriers to healthy foods and food desserts.
  • May be required to help with Mobilize the MAGIC City project as needed.
  • Bike Plan Update
  • Wayfinding signage - develop a program to get donations for implementation of the wayfinding signage plan.
  • Assist in management of Transportation Planning Studies
  • Social media: Promote our plans and other activities on social media. Help with minute taking – May be required to take minutes for Bicycle Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC), Mobilize the MAGIC City project, and other committees as needed.
  • Kids in Motion (KIM): Attend events, organize trailer/doing inventory, purchase supplies, drop off banner before events and picks up locks after events, and organize mechanics. May include going to schools and teach the KIM curriculum. Commuter Challenge: convene the planning team, organize outreach, design posters/other materials, organize kickoff events, etc.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must have an interest in active transportation, sustainability, and healthy communities
  • College experience in a related field
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills
  • High school diploma
  • Must have social media experience and be a strong writer
  • Must be able to work independently
