Scientist, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Davis, CA. Design and execute bench-scale fermentation experiments to determine the performance of microbial production strains under a variety of process conditions. Maintain bench-scale bioreactor equipment and troubleshoot as necessary. Maintain proficiency with fermentation system software. Sample bioreactors and transfer samples to other teams for analyses. Operate fermentation equipment. Troubleshoot failures and implement corrective measures. Maintain laboratory documentation. Prepare scientific reports, presentations and registration documents as required.
40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. $102,523 to $117,523/yr.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
PhD, or foreign equivalent degree, in Food Science, Biochemistry, Bioengineering or a related field.
Must have knowledge or experience with/in:

• Analysis of data from analytical and fermentation groups, statistics, and Design of Experiment techniques.
• Scale-up and scale-down;
• Small scale fermentation;
• Sterile techniques; and

Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.
